The other night, at the end of our planning meeting for the upcoming 8th annual LDS Film Festival, Christian Vuissa and Brandon Smith treated me to a sneak peak of their newest feature endeavor, Father in Israel: a Tribute to Fatherhood.

I now understand why my daughter behaves the way that she does. More specifically, there is a specific set of values and attitudes that she has embraced subconsciously that was not learned in the home. What's even more surprising, is the fact that it was exposure to media at friends' houses and her friends' exposed to media, second-hand media consumption if you will, that has molded this behavior because of our fairly selective media consumption in the home.

I sat in a meeting with my two production partners a week ago. As we discussed the dynamics of the family relationship that we are developing for the upcoming series that we've dubbed "Happiness", I felt to emphasis the significance of what we are doing. As the meeting concluded, I simply observed that in today's media, there is nothing more important that we could be doing than to depict a real family.

I am going to be plain spoken this morning, but I pray that I may be sensitive to what is happening to our fair daughters and handsome sons. I'm picking up the wand again on the depictions of mothers in the media. This morning, however I turn my attentions to teenage pregnancy.
